In an emergency, call 911. Lay of the Land is a planning guide, not an emergency service. Alerts and conditions change; always follow official instructions.

Something in my report is wrong

Each section names its source. Map details such as a store's hours or a closed business come from OpenStreetMap, which anyone can fix at openstreetmap.org. For anything else, email us and we'll look into it.

Why does a section say "not available"?

Some data only exists in certain places (tides on the coast, for example), and sometimes a public data service is down. We show that plainly instead of guessing. Try again later for outages.

Do you store my location?

No. If you use "Where am I?", your position is used for that one report and isn't saved. There are no accounts. See the privacy policy for details.

Does it work outside the U.S.?

Not yet. Most sources cover the 50 states; coverage in U.S. territories is limited.

How do I join the iPhone beta?

The beta is invite-only for now through Apple's TestFlight. Email us if you'd like to be considered.
